LG GW300 – cheap QWERTY phone for Facebook and e-mail

In addition to teasing us with their high end Black Label Series 4 new Chocolate phone, LG today has pre-announced another, low end, messaging handset – LG GW300.

Fortunately, this time LG does  not bother with teasers, and gives us most of the relevant details of the new handset straight.

LG GW300 is a low end messaging featurephone with built in Facebook and e-mail clients, plus a full QWERTY keypad. It comes equipped 2.4” 240×320 QVGA display, stereo Bluetooth, USB 2.0, weights 95 gr and supports only on 2.5G GSM, GPRS/EDGE networks.

The only specs that I’m missing are for camera. It certainly has one, but I cannot tell what it is from the available pics. Looking at the other specs, I’d say it’s 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus. But it’s just my guestimate.

No pricing or availability info just yet, but it’s obvious that LG GW300 will be on the really cheap side of things.

LG announces CES-bound W2486L LED BLU 24-inch display

LG’s announced its W2486L LED BLU display, which will be on hand for all to see at CES next week. The LED backlit 24-incher is super slim — at about 20mm (about .79-inches) thick — with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It boasts an automatic brightness control feature, a 2ms response rate, and LG claims it consumes about 50 percent less power than like-minded CCFL models. No pricing or availability info as of yet, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for this puppy in Las Vegas.

FON CEO teases ruggedized outdoor Foneras

While this isn’t the first device we’ve seen of its kind, new images of a wireless-capable, ruggedized la Fonera router have surfaced on the FON head honcho’s personal blog. CEO Martin Varsavsky clearly states that “this is not a product announcement,” and that the pictured devices are part of an R&D project, so pricing and availability info are certainly out of the question. Still, it’s promising to see FON working to extend the reach of its network beyond the current Fonera / Fontenna combos. Just let us know when this one hits the market, okay Mr. V?
