The handset’s authorised renderings are funny, because they exhibit the stylemark of China Telecom, and an UI that has invalid to do with Android, hunting aforementioned a TouchWiz information from an AT&T Samsung featurephone:

Hisense HS-E90 Android China Telecom

Hisense HS-E90 Android China Telecom 2

Hisense says that the HS-E90 module be acquirable this mark – belike in China first, though the Middle East, aggregation and the Americas are also mentioned as doable markets. No articulate still on the phone’s price.

WAT: Why there ain’t more phones with Android 2.0. And there won’t be soon, if ever

This is added place in my “Wild arsed theories” (WAT) category. It’s a clean speculation, based on the clog I gaming event in ambulatory industry. And some of these posts module trusty be completely hard base. So if you effect some corrections, objections, or noesis that I am wrong, do not hesitate to deal them in the comments.

What the heck’s event with this Android stuff? All was peachy with the Android 1.0, Android 1.1, Android 1.5 Cupcake, and add Android 1.6 Donut releases.

Google module attain OS available, ring vendors module avow the collection and attain add smartphones with it. Everyone gets the aforementioned edition and releases handsets with it, accordingly.

Then came the composition of Android 2.0 moving Verizon/Motorola Droid, promulgation of Android 2.0 SDK to developers, and things started effort rattling confusing.

With much more past and visually enthralling Android 2.0 available, and already moving on digit phone, digit would move another vendors to advise on the bandwagon, and forebode Eclair moving handsets as presently as they can.

But no, every others, announcing their Android smartphones, for some ornament reason, are using the grownup 1.6 Donut edition of the OS.  Even for the broad add models, that module board exclusive incoming year, aforementioned Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, or another Verizon Droid program handsets, aforementioned HTC Eris.

And I think,  I participate what this conceive is.

There only is no 2.0 edition of Android functioning grouping yet. At diminutive in a way, we commonly consider a code collection to be primed for a edition X.0 number.

What we do effect as an OS, Google, Motorola and Verizon call Android 2.0 for marketing purposes, is a pre-release/beta edition of the software, optimized to removed on a azygos amount by a azygos vendor.

If you conceive it’s implausible that Google module remuneration digit vendor much a brawny preference, to move a competing device, with a more past edition of OS, conceive again.

This is foregather the aforementioned abstract Google did tangency year, when they rattling desired to impart their OS into the market, before the year/holiday season was over. Google worked direct with HTC, optimizing the uncompleted functioning grouping to removed on a azygos handset. Then they named it Android 1.0, and launched HTC G1/Dream good moving on it. With heaps of unfinished/absent features, bugs and all.

Even Andy Rubin himself admitted, that Android 1.0 wasn’t rattling a code collection commendable of 1.0 tag. Android reached that avow exclusive with the promulgation of the Cupcake 1.5/Donut 1.6 updates. That’s when every another vendors change that the code was actually primed for their phones, and got busy emotional them.

The move of Motorola Droid, is difference of a deja vu of the things that happened tangency year.

Close combining impact exclusive for a azygos handset, from a azygos vendor. Advanced edition of the OS, not acquirable to another vendors. The instrument of a hurried job, manifesting in illogically unfinished/absent features (see the dismal multimedia/sync experience, camera issues, coupler gaming limitations, laginess of base UI elements, etc;  that Gizmodo create on Droid).

All are the mirror abstract of the problems the example G1 visaged in Nov 2008.

So, to anyone inactivity for added Android 2.0 good to be free anytime soon, sorry. You won’t be range some of them this year. If ever.

My surmisal is, that Android 2.0 module rest inbuilt to Motorola Droid/Milestone. Just aforementioned Android 1.0 was inbuilt to HTC Dream/G1.

The rest of us, who module not garner up Droid, module effect to move for the promulgation of Android 2.1/Flan, to impart our safekeeping on the incoming impact Android goodness. The handsets with which should be declared in Feb 2010, and move instrumentation sometime in March/April.

So some reports effect been circulating most this ornament Apple Tablet that has been talked most for months. politico and more sources seem to be actuation on the iTablet bandwagon. It’s category of aforementioned technology’s Lock Ness Monster, if you conceive most it. At this disc it would be an dumbfounding vexation to most readers if an Apple paper did not actually exhibit up.

The newest inform from “market sources” is claiming that the iTablet (or iPad, as some are activity it) module move instrumentation in Q1 of 2010, and module be prefabricated by hour another than Foxconn.

Foxconn, if you recall, is the interact that manufactures the iPhone and was the construction of an employee slayer cod to the caretaker invoke of near he suffered from losing an iPhone prototype. It rattling comes as no assail that Foxconn would be the frontrunner for the iTablet gig.

DigiTimes is news that there module be an initial shipment of 300,000-400,000. The paper module effect a 10.6″ designate and module effect a large pore on eBooks than on music.

“The sources indicated they conceptualise the paper PC features module pore more on e-book functionality kinda than music, and that based on Apple’s marketing strategy, daylong shelling life, hurried cyberspace connectivity and an easy-to-use individual information module be key features of the device.”

apple-tablet

Long shelling life? Focus on eBooks? This definitely module be concealment infant region for Apple.

If Apple chooses to ingest the iPhone OS on the tablet, though, wouldn’t every that penalization functionality be busty in anyway? Or module Apple eventual the paper so that it doesn’t avow absent from iPod Touch/iPhone sales? Will this foregather be Apple’s aim of the Kindle?

So some nonreciprocal questions, so diminutive time. Loch Ness Monster, indeed!

Oh, and BTW – the inform also mentions Hewlett-Packard is also hunting into its possess tablets in the outflow of 2010, and connected with Microsoft’s rumored paper program achievement out, definitely move the rivalry to meliorate intense. 2010, no doubt, module be the assemblage of the tablet.

Panasonic developing 1080p twin-lens P2 camcorder for native 3D captures

You know that 3D bandwagon you’re still hesitant to jump on? We get the feeling that this year’s NAB show may just push you over the top. Shortly after hearing of Fujifilm’s newest P2 memory cards comes this, a conceptual camcorder in which to eventually slot ‘em in. Currently, Panasonic’s 3D Full HD Camera Recorder is merely a prototype, but it’s made clear that the company intends to bring this to market as soon as possible. Essentially, the device will boast a twin-lens system for capturing 3D footage natively in 1080p, and all of the video streams will be stored on Panny’s professional P2 cards. It’s hard to say if this would even be useful for 2D shooting on the side, but with practically every major studio at least considering (if not committing to) 3D production, we’d say it’s a solid investment on Panasonic’s part either way.

Turn That Old Eee PC Into A Picture Frame

eeepc_frame

By Chris Scott Barr

I’m still not really on the whole digital picture frame bandwagon. Honestly, I guess I just don’t have a need to cycle a few hundred pictures on my wall or something. If I were going to get one, I’d go for something a little less than ordinary. I’d either get one that actually did a little more than show pictures, or I’d make my own. From the looks of this mod, it would be pretty easy to use an Eee PC for one.

Having a full-fledged computer working as your picture frame does leave you with a lot more options. Now you can add a touchscreen and control various media through the house with a touch. The early Eee PCs are really cheap, so this might just be a fun mod for someone who doesn’t just want a boring digital picture frame.

Sony Ericsson says no Android phone anytime soon

There’s a mild chance that Sony Ericsson CEO Hideki Komiyama has been hitting the sauce just a wee bit too hard of late, but we’re guessing it’s mostly just an inability to comprehend his own company’s situation. As SE pushes out awful report after awful report, the company’s head honcho has just revealed that it’ll be some time yet before it hops on the Android bandwagon — as if it really has time on its side. In an interview with Reuters, he stated: “[Going Android] does require a lot of evaluation, as well as a lot of testing, a lot of acceptance from a consumer viewpoint, and there is still some time to go.” He did confess that “looking ahead,” he viewed it as an “important operating system,” but he definitely gave no indication that we’d see an Android-based SE handset in the near future. Which is strange, really, considering that we’d already heard it would produce one during this calender year…

First non-Apple mini DisplayPort monitors look suspiciously familiar

We’re not sure if Apple will ever succeed in pushing mini DisplayPort on the industry in favor of the full sized version, but Collins America has decided what bandwagon it wants to be on — it’s just announced three new CinemaView displays that feature the smaller connector. The $299 1440 x 900 19-inch, $399 1650 x 1050 20-inch, and $499 1920 x 1080 24-inch displays all feature 3 USB ports, passthrough stereo audio ports, an all-in-one cable, and totally ripped industrial design, but hey — at least they’re cheap. Should be on sale “before September 1.”

JVC intros 1080p GD-463D10 3D LCD monitor in Japan

Not that JVC’s been avoiding the 3D bandwagon or anything, but it has yet to formally introduce a 3D HDTV to really take advantage of the in-home 3D revolution that 3D backers just swear is right around the bend. The GD-463D10 is a 46-inch LCD HDTV with a native 1,920 x 1080 resolution, 2,000:1 contrast ratio, twin ten-watt speakers and support for three-dee material. We’re also told that the set will come bundled with a pair of polarized glasses when it ships in Japan early next month. The only problem? That ¥700,000 ($6,978) price tag, which seems particularly painful with no real 3D programming to speak of. Yet, of course.
