By Chris histrion Barr

One of the caretaker features of the iPhone is also its caretaker cater (to some people). I’m conversation of code most the touchscreen. The concealment is beautiful, and it gives you the noesis to do so some things that foregather aren’t doable on your cipher non-touchscreen phone. Of code when it comes to typing, there is departed no add of somatosense feedback, making things a diminutive more difficult, add unfeasible if you’re not opened direct at it. So what’s the solution? A crack-pot concealment that gives you actual buttons on your iPhone!

I’m rattling not trusty what to conceive most this iTwinge. Mostly I can’t amount discover if it’s dopy or foregather stark retarded. The concealment makes you kill nearly half of your concealment to impart a keyboard. Yeah, you capableness identify a diminutive faster, but whenever you poverty to ingest your good for some another function, you’re feat to effect to end the iTwinge and place it somewhere. Seriously, if you’re that afraid most somatosense feedback, foregather go impart a Blackberry or something. This example of fling module ordered you backwards $30, nonnegative your dignity.

Viliv S5 unboxed in beautiful, epic video

We’ve had our eyes and hands all over Viliv’s S5 for quite some time now, but we’ll freely admit that we kind of can’t get enough of the little guy. Well, until now, maybe. jkkmobile’s got an exhaustive video unboxing which shows the device off quite nicely — its 4.8-inch haptic touchscreen looks super responsive — and overall, this UMPC is shaping up to be one decently impressive piece of work. They’re expected to ship around May 8th in the U.S. for $599. Video is after the break — it’s a little long, but be sure to stick with it until the end, when Ilsa takes off in a plane for America, leaving a teary-eyed Rick on the tarmac. You won’t be disappointed.

Angelina Jolie: Palm Pre is better than the iPhone

Right from the beginning, Palm Pre was considered an iPhone competitor – and that’s somewhat logical, since the new smartphone has both loads of style and a myriad of advanced features.

Now it looks like Angelina Jolie already owns a Palm Pre, and, surprise, she says she likes it better than the iPhone.

According to Examiner, the famous actress talked about the Pre while filming Salt, a new movie due in theaters in 2010.

Reportedly, one of Salt’s production assistants said about Jolie:

“I asked her how she likes the phone. She went on about it for about two minutes. She basically said she likes the software better than the iPhone, she likes the thumboard for texting (although the keys aren’t big enough), and thinks the screen is beautiful but can be too easily scratched.”

It’s not clear yet how Angelina Jolie managed to get a Palm Pre, or if she actually has one. Anyway, I guess that when you’re a diva you have some privileges.

As for the release of Palm Pre, neither Sprint nor Palm gave any exact date for it, but the smartphone might be available starting May.

Kyocera shows off preposterous, beautiful EOS folding OLED phone concept

We’re big fans of reality and feasibility, we swear, but something like this “EOS” concept phone Kyocera was showing off at CTIA is just too good to pass up. The handset folds up into what could roughly be described as a wallet shape, but folds out into two configurations: portrait QWERTY mode (pictured), and full-on widescreen OLED display (after the break). Samsung was showing similar screen-folding folding abilities, but a much less impressive handset, at CES. Things get even wilder, tough, with Kyocera envisioning shape memory keys that can morph flat when not in use, and a kinetic charging method based on piezoelectric generators and Mary Poppins. Sure, our great grandkids are going to have a good laugh at us for thinking this is lovable, but they always were a bunch of theoretical brats. Kyocera plans on implementing some of the concept ideas into its “near future” lineup of devices. We’ll see how that pans out.

Nokia’s profits drop 90% in Q1 2009

So, there’s good news and bad news here, and we’re opting to go against tradition by dishing out the positive first. Nokia just pushed out its Q1 2009 results, and while many firms have been struggling to stay afloat, at least it managed to turn a profit of €122 million ($160 million). That said, it’s still looking at a staggering 90 percent drop in profits compared to its first quarter of 2008, where it raked in a mind-boggling €1.222 billion ($1.6 billion). Not surprisingly, sales were also down 27 percent to €9.28 billion ($12.2 billion) from €12.7 billion ($16.7 billion). Of course, Nokia’s far from being alone in having to showcase less-than-beautiful Q1 numbers, but in reality, the damage could’ve been much worse; in fact, shares of the company’s stock inched up by 8 percent following the reveal, as many had feared an even more significant decline. All in all, Nokia’s still holding strong to a 37 percent market share worldwide, and if CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has anything to do with it (hint: he does), things should be on the up and up here soon.

Acorn MP3 player is for nuts only

You may ask yourself, “what is the point of an acorn-shaped DAP”? Well, stop asking and just bask in the glory of its zaniness! Why not, right? It’s teeny, cute, it’s got 1GB of memory, and it comes with its own USB cable! Couldn’t be simpler than that. Shell out $21 bucks for this little guy, strap it to your cell phone, and head for the great outdoors — a beautiful placid lake for some camping, perhaps. Sky’s the limit!

Samsung D980 La Fleur Touch with Mobile Coupons

It seems that Samsung is getting seriously ready for a Valentine’s day in Russia. We already told you about a beautiful Samsung F480 La Fleur Touch edition. But it’s not the only one.

Samsung has dressed up it’s dual SIM version of F480 – D980 – in La Fleur colors too. And aptly named it Samsung D980 La Fleur Touch.

Both Samsung F480 and D980 La Fleur Touch editions  come equipped something called “Mobile Coupon”, which claims to be  a mobile version of plastic discount cards you can get at various retailers.

Samsung has partnered with a number of shops, cafes, cinemas, beauty parlors, fitness clubs and other places you’d want to get discount from. All you have to do – is send an SMS to Samsung requesting a mobile coupon. You’ll get a link to download a small Java app through which you’ll be able to view all the discount offers and download the mobile coupons you want. Then  you just flash this coupon on a phone screen when buying something and you get a discount.

Sounds interesting. But there’s some bad news. Mobile Coupons are only available on a limited number of La Fleur Collection phones, which includes Samsung F480, D980 Touch and older L310, L320 and F250. And, what’s worse – all of these goodies are only available in Russia for now.

Well, let’s see if it works over there. Then,  maybe, Samsung can bring mobile coupons to the rest of the world too.

Video: ASUS AIRO laptop with amazing sliding keyboard

ASUS was kind enough to take its beautiful AIRO laptop out from behind the glass at CES for an Engadget exclusive look at the functional sliding mechanism. The design raises the keyboard to cool the hot running components beneath allowing for a fan-less, convection-cooled design. Unfortunately, this prototype is just a chipset-less mechanical shell. Raise the lid and the keyboard slides back smoother than a greased-up Pete Rose. This allows for a larger, more comfortable wrist rest from which to slap those angled keys. Sexy? Oh yeah, with mojo to spare. Check the video after the break.

Eyes on with LG’s near-production 15-inch OLED TV: come on summer

While Sony’s OLED TV is little more than a beautiful, 11-inch novelty, LG is swaggering dangerously close to a respectable kitchen TV with this 15-inch AMOLED TV prototype. On display here at CES and planned for a production run sometime this summer, the image is absolutely stunning — every bit as impressive as the Sony’s XEL-1. Nothing else compares to the incredible contrast achieved by these OLED displays. Have a look in the gallery — we’ve got the prototype pictured with and without its chubby TV bezel. It’s credit-card thin (0.8-mm) and only on Engadget.
