Pink HTC Hero to be available in the UK this month

Announced by HTC in only two color version, HTC Hero (the company’s third Android smartphone) will have a pink version too.

The pink Hero was spotted at The Carphone Warehouse, and it looks like it will be available in the UK starting this month.

The retailer doesn’t say how much the handset costs, but interested customers can pre-register here to find out when it will be available.

Most probably, Carphone will sell the HTC Hero unlocked, so you should expect to pay about €500 for it.

Telus to launch the iPhone 3G S in Canada?

As crazy as it may sound, Canada’s Telus might release Apple’s brand new iPhone 3G S sometime in October this year.

Yes, we know, Telus is a CDMA carrier and the iPhone 3G S is a GSM/HSPA phone, so this doesn’t make sense, right? Well, wrong, because Telus is getting ready to roll-out a HSPA network across Canada, which should be functional in October.

So, theoretically, the third-largest Canadian carrier will be able to launch the iPhone 3G S. Of course, the new iPhone will first be offered by Rogers and Fido in Canada, but it looks like they don’t have exclusivity on it.

According to a post from Howard Forums, a Telus executive has confirmed that they will launch the iPhone 3G S.

If this turns out to be true, there will probably be many happy Telus subscribers and a few unhappy execs at Rogers & Fido.

RTEV begins taking orders for Wheego Whip electric car

If you’re the type of Earth-loving individual who ain’t got nowhere to go in a hurry, RTEV’s ready and willing to take your order a brand new Wheego Whip. The company’s first street electric LSV (low speed vehicle) will begin shipping to early adopters in May, and it’s primed to carry up to two individuals and a few empty cola bottles anywhere you need to go — so long as there’s an AC outlet waiting at Point B. It’s retailing for under $19,000 and includes an MP3 stereo system, remote keyless entry, air conditioning and a sweet 10 percent Federal Tax credit. Of note, RTEV has plans to eventually produce a higher speed model of this very car, and there’s a trade-in program available (with terms that aren’t half bad) for those interested. MOTOROKR phones come with U2

Motorola and Universal Music singed a new agreement that allowed the handset maker to pre-load, on four of its MOTOROKR phones, U2’s brand new album called No Line on the Horizon.

The phones are MOTOROKR EM35, EM30, EM28 and EM25, and, unfortunately, they will be offered only in Latin America with the latest U2 album.

Apart from having all the tracks from No Line on the Horizon, the MOTOROKR handsets will also come with an exclusive digital song, the “Get On Your Boots” video, wallpapers and ringtones.

This is not the first time when Motorola launches handsets with pre-loaded music in Latin America: back in September, the American company released the W388 and W231, both of which came with music from NXZero, a popular Brazilian rock band.

Sprint to have US exclusivity on Palm Pre until 2010

If you were hoping for the  Palm Pre to be released this year via other US carrier than Sprint, it looks like your hopes are in vain.

Someone “familiar with the matter” told CNBC that the brand new Palm smartphone will be a US exclusive on Sprint at least until the end of 2009.

Of course, for the moment, an exact release date for the Pre is not known, but if Sprint manages to launch it in the next few months, then it will have quite a long exclusivity period.

First unveiled in January 2009, Palm Pre is not just one of Palm’s nicest devices ever, but also one of the most eagerly expected smartphones of the year, so it’s no wonder Sprint wants to sell it as long as it can with exclusive rights.

palm-pre1

As for its availability in non-US markets, the Pre will probably be released sometime in mid-2009 in Canada and various European countries (details about the carriers to sell it are currently missing).

NAM HTC Touch Cruise with Footprints passes the FCC

A North American version of the brand new HTC Touch Cruise (also known as HTC Touch Cruise with Footprints or HTC Touch Cruise 09) was recently approved by the FCC, meaning that we might see it soon on sale in the US.

The NAM Touch Cruise comes with quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and dual-band HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 MHz). This makes it suitable for a release via AT&T – but, of course, it doesn’t mean the carrier will actually want to bring the handset into its family of products.

According to its user manual, the Touch Cruise is sold together with a 1GB microSD card that includes “map content for bundled GPS software”, which is, obviously, a good thing.

As for the rest of Cruise’s specs and features, you can view them here.

The smartphone’s  European version (with 900 / 2100 HSDPA) will be available for purchase starting this spring, at a price that was not announced yet.

Amazon to Bring Kindle Books to Your Phone

Do you love the idea of reading books on your phone and hate the idea of spending loads of cash on a Kindle? Soon, Amazon hopes to bring you the best of both worlds.

Amazon, which is already expected to expand its Kindle brand to a new model sometime soon, has just made known its intent to also bring Kindle books to the mobile phone world.

The company has not announced which phones the Kindle collection will be offered on, and we are eager to hear. Frankly, we anticipate the iPhone to be one of the first phones since firstly Amazon already has an app available on the App Store, and secondly because of the popularity of iPhone e-book readers. It would be the perfect market to test out.

Question for the comments: When this is offered on your phone, will you be stepping up to purchase Kindle books?
