tvclean

By Chris histrion Barr

Being the entitle that I am, I wouldn’t foregather call myself a comely freak. Granted, I commonly primed things pretty tidy, since I can’t impact in a blowzy office, but I’d change the grownup albescent dress test. One abstract that I do dislike is when grouping contact my monitors or TV. I pay half my mark opened at one, so I rattling don’t poverty fingerprints on it. I mostly ingest a microfiber textile to comely my screens, but here’s added engrossing solution.

The TV Clean is difference of aforementioned a lint gesture for your LCD guardian or TV. You foregather listing the diminutive amount over your screen, and its foam gesture picks up some detritus and dirt, which is transferred to a sticky roller. This does seem aforementioned an cushy artefact to impart the detritus off, but alas you’ll ease domain to ingest a microfiber textile to end fingerprints and such. $50 seems a discernment pricey for a detritus remover. I’m trusty it entireness foregather fine, but so does my method, and I don’t effect to clear for refills.

Medigenic Infection Control keyboard will be easy to clean when the zombies attack

We don’t have a phobia about germs or anything, but this keyboard still really strikes our fancy. Designed by Esterline Advanced Input Systems for use in hospitals, the Medigenic Infection Control keyboard boasts a couple of features that make it less likely to be infested with disgusting germs, as well as easier to clean. First off — it’s a flat surface, and has no “keys” — just the 3D-looking printed keyboard layout — so that you don’t get crumbs, dirt, or anything else trapped in there. It also has a disable key, so that you can turn off the keys for quick cleaning, and a customizable reminder system to let you know when it’s ready for a wipe down. A companion mouse is also available. The keyboard is available for $140, and the mouse is $80.

Scarpar Powerboard Trumps Ordinary Skateboards

By Chris Scott Barr

Skateboarding has never been my thing. I remember buying one when I was a kid and spending a couple of weeks trying to ride it. Then I realized that I could go faster with less effort on my bike and promptly forgot about it. The next time I buy anything that remotely resembles a skateboard is either when someone actually makes a hoverbaord a la Back to the Future or when this Scarpar Powerboard comes out.

This awesome motorized skateboard can do everything its non-motorized counterpart can’t. In addition to scooting along by itself on the pavement, it’ll go off-road on dirt, grass, sand and even snow. Take that, crappy skateboard. Sure, it doesn’t look like it has a great turn radius, or that it goes very fast, oh and you can’t do tricks either. Still, if this thing weren’t still in development, I’d buy one.

Data Robotics goes large with 8-bay DroboPro

Not sure if you’ve been keeping tabs, but it’s been just shy of a full year since we’ve seen a new piece of hardware from the labs of Data Robotics. 60,000 Drobos later, we’re being formally introduced to the bigger, stronger and more capacious DroboPro. As the name implies, this 8-bay beast is truly aimed at small businesses and creative professionals, but there’s nothing here that the average consumer can’t fall in love with. Generally speaking, everything here has remained the same as the second-gen Drobo: it looks similar, it uses the same genius BeyondRAID intelligent data storage technology and it’s not really meant to be used on networks. Interested to hear more? Hop on past the break for all the dirt.

NASA ruminating a robot-built lunar outpost to make way for manned missions

NASA commissioned a study on the feasibility of using little smallish tractor bots to prep a lunar outpost before the humans show up, and the research seems to show it as a good idea. The theoretical plan is for 330 pound mower-sized bots to show up on the moon and prep the surface for actual buildings, landing sites, roads and so forth. The robots are basically glorified tractors (or perhaps simplified tractors) so lunarnauts shouldn’t expect a palace by the time they show up — just a bunch of displaced dirt. Berms seem to be a big theme of construction, since a sort of “blast shield” is needed to make sure debris from takeoff and landing don’t damage the actual settlement.

Worm infiltrates computer, disables CPU fan, causes overheating

If you have both cats and dirt you may want to be wary of a new type of worm that’s infecting computers across Great Britain — or computer, anyway. It’s called an earthworm, and one of the five-inch variety stealthily found its way into the laptop of one Mark Taylor. He began receiving overheating errors and took his machine to a technician who promptly found the unfortunate invertebrate wedged in the cooling fan, slowly crisping thanks to the system’s heat. Taylor thinks one of his cats dug up the worm, brought it inside, and then the poor thing crawled through one of the cooling vents on his notebook to flee its pursuer. We’re not sure how it got separated from its ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit, but surely somewhere Queen Slug-for-a-Butt is laughing.

Clean Your Nasty Bath Water With A Bath Ball

flat-clear-bath-ball-21

By Luke Anderson

One thing that’s always troubled me about taking a bath is that any way you slice it, you’re actually just sitting in your own filth. You can make yourself feel better about it by adding in some bubbles, but you’re really just covering up the discolored water. The obvious solution is to take a shower before getting in the tub. Of course that’s redundant and just plain silly, so someone has created a better solution.

This funny-looking yellow ball is called the Float Clear Bath Ball. It uses magical powers to attract dirt, oil and residue which it absorbs. I’m honestly not sure just how effective it is, but at least it’s easy to clean. Just toss it in the washing machine, or rinse it out before your next bath. $45 seems a bit pricey, if it actually works well, then it might be worth it. However, there’s no telling how effective it will be.
