Touch Revolution NIMble Concepts (Images concept OhGizmo!)

The aim of a cook oven or a impact methodicalness moving Android capableness seem aforementioned a discernment much, but the interact behindhand these digit concepts, Touch Revolution, actually has a pretty adroit product. Their Android-powered NIM1000 Touch Module crapper be desegrated by an OEM into a panoramic arrange of products (hence the grounds of create cook and impact methodicalness on display) adding gesture-based contact controls to nearly some device.

It saves a interact from having to investigate and amend their possess touch-screen element and software, and because it does removed Android, the possibilities of what that contact concealment crapper do are nearly endless. The brief shew I saw had them coefficient Pandora on the cook and activity a discernment of Jason Mraz finished a change of built-in speakers.

Google Purchases 1 Million Numbers For Voice Service

google-voice

By Chris Scott Barr

I’m a huge fan of Google Voice, which was previously known as GrandCentral. I was an early adopter to the service, so I’m one of the lucky few that actually managed to snag a number. If you’re not familiar, Google Voice gives you a number that conveniently forwards to any phones you would like. It includes features like sending/receiving text messages, transcribing voicemails and more. The only downside to the service is that they haven’t given out new numbers in a very long time.

While Google hasn’t yet announced their plans to start handing out, we do have news that the search giant has secured 1 million new numbers from Level 3 (which is whom they’ve previously purchased numbers from). There’s little doubt that Google will soon start sending out invitations. It’s (currently) a free service, so if you’re interested, I’d head over to their site and get registered.

New iPhone parts begin shipping from suppliers for June launch?

At this point there’s little doubt that a new iPhone model (possibly two) will at least be announced in June. Now the Commercial Times have chimed in with a report saying that components from Taiwan-based suppliers have begun shipments as Apple (or its China-based assemblers, rather) readies for a “June launch” pegged by said suppliers to reach about 2-3 million units per quarter. A phone that looks to be fitted with a 3.2 megapixel still / video CMOS camera, digital compass (magnetometer), possibly 802.11n WiFi, more storage, and all the MMS, copy/paste, and push-notifications you can shake a gesticulating finger at. Assuming all the firmware sleuthing and rumors are true, of course.

AK Rock Box Gaming And Storage Ottoman With Drum Lift

AK Rock Box Gaming and Storage Ottoman with Drum Lift (Images courtesy Amazon.com)
By Andrew Liszewski

Without a doubt, the biggest downside to Rock Band is the drum kit, guitars and other gear that ends up cluttering a corner of your living room when you’re not playing. But here’s an elegant solution to the mess. The Rock Box is an upholstered leather (or at least leather looking) ottoman designed to cleverly hide your Rock Band gear. It’s spacious enough to hold 2 guitars, the foot pedal and the microphone, and also features a specially designed lift that raises and lowers the drum kit with an easy one-hand motion. Now the Rock Box unfortunately isn’t cheap, it’s currently $199.99 on Amazon minus the Rock Band instruments, but it’s a neat solution that cleverly blends both form and function.

Motorola Evoke QA4 hands-on with video

When you look at the Motorola Evoke QA4, the last thought that springs to mind is RAZR, and that’s such a good thing. Let’s face it, long live the RAZR, but its time is past, though, we’re over the moon to see Moto step up with a piece of hardware that’s made us genuinely happy excited about Moto (well, Aura aside) in a long while. While it is an EVDO handset, and our travel often makes us lean toward distinctly more GSM-flavored devices, we’re throwing it all to wind and will be rushing to get our hands on one. The layout in-hand is frickin’ ideal, the material choices, finish, and style are just so well executed that we found ourselves fairly stunned when we first got out mitts on it. The capacitive screen works extremely well for flipping through apps, surfing, messaging, and the keyboards (both landscape and portrait are here) work very well. Honestly, what’s not to like? Motorola’s new slider is without a doubt going to be a winner when it lands. Here’s hoping we hear where and for how much soon, but in the interim feel free to check the gallery and absorb some of the video goodness that is the Evoke in action.

Acer reportedly launching laptops based on Intel’s CULV platform

We don’t doubt that Acer’s cooking up a few laptops based on Intel’s forthcoming consumer ultra low voltage (CULV) platform, but we do have serious reservations about ‘em coming out next month. Last we heard, the platform was still on track for a summer release, and at least in our hemisphere, April ain’t summer. For what it’s worth, Taiwan Economic News is reporting that Acer is looking to launch 11.6-, 13-, 14- and 15-inch machines with CULV processors within, and if rumors prove true, at least some of ‘em will make their debut next month. Don’t bet the farm, but you’re probably safe to pencil it in.

MyRacer’s lisse T10 PMP subtly takes a hint from iriver’s SPINN

MyRacer’s lisse S10 was too simple to really attribute any level of knockoff status to it, but there’s little doubt that the company’s lisse T10 took a lesson or two in design from iriver’s SPINN. For whatever reason, the SPINN seems to be quite popular in the KIRF circuit, and while the T10 is still different enough to keep it from being the next in our growing list of blatant rips, we’re definitely not giving MyRacer any innovation credits here. All that aside, this here PMP is said to feature a 2.8-inch display (320 x 240), 2GB / 4GB of internal capacity, support for a litany of audio and video file formats, a built-in FM tuner and recorder, a text reader and support for an undocumented list of “games.” There’s no word on a price or release date, but we wouldn’t count on it drifting far from its home nation of South Korea.

Intel X25-M SSDs slowing down with extensive use?

Intel’s X25-M SSD drives have certainly shown themselves more than capable enough in the usual tests and various configurations, but a long-term test report from the folks at PC Perspective is now casting a bit of doubt onto their long-term effectiveness and speediness. More specifically, they found that the sector remapping and wear-leveling algorithms that are designed to increase performance and extend the drives’ lifespans were actually doing quite the opposite as the drive became increasingly fragmented after extensive use. Further complicating the matter, it seems that conventional defrag programs only make the situation worse, with the only sure way of resetting the drive’s sector maps being a complete wipe of the drive. PC Perspective is quick to point out, however, that many users may well never notice the slowdown with light use, and they do have a few suggestions to minimize the problem until Intel devises a firmware fix, which is the only surefire solution.

Rumored BlackBerry 9300 “Gemini” appears, Bold gulps

After BlackBerry types lay eyes on the 8900, the same question immediately gets asked time and time again: “Why would I buy a Bold over this?” Indeed, it’s hard to argue that the 8900 isn’t the better looking handset, but for now, the Bold gets to lord its fancy-schmancy 3G radio over the 8900’s technologically inferior head. That might just be where the rumored 9300 “Gemini” comes into play, though, which — according to Boy Genius Report — will feature a larger, higher-res screen than the 8900’s already amazing display, a beefy processor, a slightly more “rounded” keyboard, and most importantly, quadband EDGE plus triband HSDPA. There isn’t any solid information on a release window for this one yet (we’d doubt that even RIM has an answer for that one at this point), so if you had a Bold in mind, don’t feel bad about pulling the trigger — yet.
