USB weirdness often seems to show up in groups, and today’s examples are no exception. What I like to do is try and picture how it would look if you were to combine weird USB things into one ÜberSB monstrosity, and this combo is particularly bizarre:

It’s a USB cow with fluffy tentacles and 8 gigs of storage! Totally worth the hour it took me to photoshop. Totally.

The CowCow USB Hub comes in four colors, two of which are not found in nature, and when you plug it into a USB port, it will sound “3 cow calls.” Moo, moo, moo. $12.

The Cat Tail USB Memory Stick Tail has a capacity of 2 gigs, and is made to order in Japan for about $55. Don’t worry, though, the Cat Tail isn’t made from an actual cat.

I mean, of course not.

Sheesh.

Instead, it’s made from mink.

MSI’s Wind U120 has only been available for a little over a month, and already received a minor update of its own, but it looks like the company is already planning on adding a few more digits to the Wind line, with its upgraded Wind U123 apparently on track for a release April. While much will apparently remain unchanged form the U120, the U123 does get a bit of a boost from Intel’s new Atom N280 processor, which has already found its way into ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HA, and from a maximum 2GB of RAM, as opposed to 1GB on the U120. You’ll also be able to get it in your choice of four colors, and with a six or nine cell battery if you choose. What’s more, MSI’s director of US sales reportedly confirmed that the company has both 11.6-inch and 12-inch netbooks “in development,” and that it “can bring that out of the gate,” although he unfortunately didn’t go any farther than that somewhat cryptic statement.”

There are plenty of options for listening to music in the bath, but as far as I know none of them are duck shaped besides this one. And impressively, that’s not the only upside to the iDuck waterproof speaker system. It includes a wireless transmitter shaped like an egg that can connect to any audio source through a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can take your music collection with you into the warm naked bubbly wetness with a minimum of hassle. Not enough features? Okay, how ’bout this: it also glows! In four colors! Wowzees!

The iDuck runs on a total of 7 AAA batteries, and costs about $40.

After a year of duty, the PowerShot A470 is finally withdrawing from the retail market. In its stead, Canon has announced the 10 megapixel A480. It’s 25% smaller than its predecessor and features a 3.3x optical zoom (up to 4x digital), 2.5-inch LCD screen, and a DIGIC III processor. The company is also touting a simplified button scheme and a choice of four colors to match your fashion tastes: red, blue, black, and silver. No definitive word on a US release, but Europeans can look forward to these in February for around £129.00 (US$188).

Sometimes it’s the unsung workhorses that deserve the lion’s share of the praise, and that might just be the case with the aging Samsung BlackJack II — a phone that you probably wouldn’t expect to top Consumer Reports’ January 2009 ratings of popular smartphones. Sure, it may not be the shiniest device on the market these days, but you’ve got to admit it’s just about as functional as you’d ever need a business-class handset to be with GPS, HSDPA, and WinMo 6.1, which gladly sucks up Exchange accounts until you’re blue in the face. When you factor in the fact that it runs just $80 these days on an AT&T contract in a choice of four colors… okay, yeah, we can kinda see it. The iPhone 3G and T-Mobile G1 don’t play second fiddle terribly often these days (they were way down in the middle of the Consumer Reports pack in this testing cycle, in fact), so let’s just let this old dog have one more moment in the spotlight, shall we?
