Logitech’s high-end Ultimate Ears division just announced these new Ultimate Ears 700 in-ear headphones. Weighing in at 11.6-grams, the dual-armature layout separates the 10Hz to 16.5kHz frequency response into two high-fidelity channels per ear while offering passive noise-isolation of up to 26dB. While the press release touts iPod compatibility in the boisterous headline there doesn’t seem to be anything about these — like Apple’s proprietary in-line remote control (and chip) for the new iPod shuffle — that’s unique to the iPod… other than the price. Available in the US and Europe for $230 sometime this month.

Got $44k burning a hole in your pocket? Yeah, we bet you do, so that’s why you’ll be one of the first in line for the SC830 from SimCraft. It’s a racing simulator that features three degrees of freedom (roll 40° / pitch 25° / yaw 40°) and “High-fidelity motion actuators and “knuckles” for unsurpassed quick response, and smooth motion curves”. It also seems to come with three LCD screens configured in wraparound fashion, which completely helps to explain the pricetag. If I understood the rep correctly (at first I wasn’t paying attention, having gone to see him to ask him an unrelated stumper), the system will initially work with 18 gaming titles. The website mentions “supported titles” in their documentation, but nowhere can these titles actually be found, so I’m not too sure about this part.

Still, the line waiting to try it out seemed eager enough, and the gamers sufficiently rattled. And again, it’s only $44,000. A bargain in this economic climate.

Ever have a cable you wanted to strangle? Well you’re not alone, apparently. A company called E-Filliate issued a new series of USB, HDMI, Cat5, S-Video, and composite cables called Flexicord at CES this year which will bend — and stay — in any position you please, thus eliminating that frustration you must feel every time you plug in your camera or hook up your high fidelity sound system. The cables act like pipe cleaner or Gumby, so you can twist and shape them as you please, though apparently Pokey had to be killed and dissected so the technology could be obtained. Enjoy your new cable, murderers.
