This farewell Sony declared a infant identify of metal ion alternative shelling that includes every the field improvements digit expects to center from a infant shelling including higher noesis output, daylong lifespan and faster calculate times. The batteries, which are fashioned to be used in large rechargeable batteries aforementioned the category used in noesis tools (hence the base label) feature an olivine-type metal hamper briny used as the cathode material. As someone who never progressed instance broad edifice alchemy I’m not quite trusty ground that’s a meliorate touchable to use, but according to Sony it results in a shelling that has a noesis arrangement of 1800W/kg with 20A constant discharge, a 2,000 charge-discharge chronicle rotate and the noesis to charge up to 99% of its noesis in a stark 30 minutes. And ostensibly the infant batteries effect been instrumentation since June of this year, so thanks for letting us participate correct absent Sony!

Sony shows that ‘C’ stands for Crocodile with skinned VAIO Type C

Shattering misconceptions that crocodiles only come in various shades of dark, menacing green, Sony has managed to genetically engineer crocs in girly pink, luscious red, and chocolaty brown colors exclusively for the sake of wrapping its CS series VAIO notebooks in organic texture. Mind you, textures are all those crocs sacrificed, as like the company’s earlier Crocodile-themed machines these lappys are still made entirely of plastic and bits of silicon — just grooved and pigmented to look like prehistoric, genetically modified reptiles (check out the detail pic after the break). The crocette devices, which are otherwise identical internally to those sporting myriad of other hues, hit Japan on the 18th for ¥104,800 (just over $1,000), and while Sony hasn’t announced any plans for an international release, we’re thinking if you head on down to Florida you could find yourself a good ‘ol boy who could whip up one of these in no time and make a rib-stickin’ stew with the remains.

Remote control your rolly with Rolly Remote, now in the US

Japanese owners of Sony’s little rolling music… thing have been able to remote control their Rollys via Bluetooth since late last year, and now folks elsewhere in the world are getting a shot with the release of Rolly Remote for US owners. The software and firmware update let you connect to Rolly wirelessly from a PC (it doesn’t look like we get mobile phone connectivity yet), enabling control over the thing’s playlist and movements. You can jack into seven of the little wheelie monsters at a time, meaning all you would-be choreographers out there finally have a way to express those emotions welling up inside without having to hire a bunch of dancers. (Vivaldi’s Greatest Hits collection not included.)

Apple touch-screen netbook in Q3?

Boom: Apple netbook in Q3 — that’s the rumor being spread by the Commercial Times / DigiTimes tag-team of electronics tattlers. Apparently, Wintek will supply the touch-panels to Quanta computer who’ll be tasked with assembling Apple’s netbook. Take this one with a grain of salt though — while these two Taiwan-based magazines tend to be accurate with insider info related to Taiwan-based companies like Acer and ASUS, they can often be wide of the mark with rumors related to foreign companies. Unless of course we missed the launch of the Blu-ray Xbox 360 and G5 PowerBooks.

Helio Ocean 2 to be launched this quarter

Helio Ocean 2, the handset that’s been in the rumor mill since the spring of 2007, could be finally released this quarter.

You probably already know that, following the Virgin Mobile acquisition, Helio is now known as Helio by Virgin Mobile. In consequence, the Ocean 2 will come out under this brand.

Silicon Alley Insider says that, according to a Virgin Mobile rep, the new Ocean might go on sale starting February.

Like the first-generation Ocean, Helio Ocean 2 will have a QWERTY and an alphanumeric keyboard. Apart from that, it’s said that the handset also sports a QVGA display, 3G connectivity, full HTML browser and external memory slot.

No word yet about the price of Helio Ocean 2, but, hopefully, this won’t be a high one. Otherwise, I don’t think the handset will stand a chance against the likes of Palm Pre, BlackBerry Bold or T-Mobile G1.

Sony shows off flexible OLED Walkman concepts on video

Looks like Sony Insider caught some footage of those flexible OLED Walkmans in action during a CES promo video hidden away in the booth. Looks like a pretty sweet riff on the Cover Flow-esque interface that’s due to arrive on the NWZ-X1000, but there’s not much else to go on — let’s hope Sony’s spending more time getting the X1000 ready to leave that impenetrable glass housing than it is mocking up videos of fantasy tech. Video after the break!

Sony’s long awaited touchscreen Walkman finally revealed?

Sony’s Walkman series of media players has done its best to keep stride, stuffing in new features and design refinements over the years, but touchscreen-dominated players are clearly in vogue, and it looks like the company is finally ready to break down and get touchable. According to the Sony stalkers over at Sony Insider, there will be 16 and 32GB touchscreen Walkman players at CES 2009 this coming January. The literal and figurative centerpiece is to be a 3-inch OLED display (possibly that 3.3-inch panel making the rounds, or something more Sony specific), running a touch interface with many similarities to the current Walkman players. Also slated for inclusion is WiFi, enabling a YouTube app, over the air podcast downloads, built-in access to Amazon’s MP3 store and an unspecified web browser. The shots of the player above are obviously mockups, and the real hardware is supposed to have physical music control buttons — and hopefully hold to some sort of reality-based conception of scale. All this info is exclusive to the Sony Insider ninjas, so we can’t vouch for its veracity, but it’s an obvious and welcome move from Sony, so we won’t look a gift rumor in the mouth.
