For some people, taking a sports car like a Lamborghini Reventón for a test drive is the ultimate dream, but I’m sure there are others who are more thrilled at the prospect of watching Searching For Bobby Fischer or seeing Garry Kasparov challenge IBM’s Deep Blue again. And oddly enough, Lamborghini has just the thing for that latter group as well.

This silver chess set by Tonino Lamborghini (son of Ferruccio Lamborghini) comes packaged in a well-appointed wooden case complete with protective storage slots for the pieces that are actually differentiated on either side of the board by their high-polish or matte finishes. And given the Reventón’s $1.6 million price tag, $395 for this chess set seems like quite the deal.

ASUS went for a repeat of last year’s CeBIT extravagance and threw all manner of product at us this morning. We’ve gotten to play with most of it, and while we’re sure a few more items will trickle past in the next day or two, you can check out the gist of it right here, right now.

	ASUS debuts the Eee PC 1008HA “Shell” 10-inch ultraportable ASUS has taken the wraps off its latest Eee PC, the 1008HA we heard was on the way to follow up on the S101.		Hands-on with ASUS’ Eee Keyboard Remember that Eee Keyboard that was announced during CES? ASUS did itself proud by bringing a few to CeBIT this year, and we were able to swing by and take a look.
	Hands-off with ASUS’ Dual Panel Touchscreen PC at CeBIT Live from the CeBIT floor, we present to you ASUS’ Dual Panel touchscreen PC.		Hands-on with ASUS’ galleria of Eee PCs at CeBIT ASUS broke out a stable of Eee PCs here in Germany, and we were on hand to have a look at all of the freshest ones.

Looking to add some allure to its portable lineup — as if a model named Lamborghini wasn’t enough — ASUS has announced the U and UX series of ultra-thin laptops, expected to launch sometime in Q2. Both feature an illuminated chiclet keyboard and auto-adjusting LED backlit display. The U series also features a 15.6-inch glossy LCD and a touchpad that uses progressively fading lights to follow your fingertips. Under the hood, there’s an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce G105M, up to 500GB HDD, and Altec Lansing speakers with SRS true surround sound. We don’t have nearly as much information on the UX, unfortunately, but we do know it’s sporting a slot-in optical disc drive. Full press release after the break.

While we initially assumed that ASUS’ Lamborghini VX5 would be its sexiest laptop at CeBIT, now we’re having second thoughts. After taking the wraps off of its downright stunning 10-inch Eee PC 1008HA yesterday, we spotted the bugger sittin’ pretty today at the outfit’s booth. Needless to say, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snag a few snapshots and share ‘em all with you. Much like the S101, the so-called “Shell” has very little “Eee” in its blood. In fact, you’d barely know it was part of the family without that descriptive placard sitting there beside it. ASUS engineered this one for fashionistas who’d like a little PC with their next style accessory, and everything from the glorious paint job to the ultra-clean lines screamed “gorgeous.” Really, take a look below and see for yourself.

While it was admittedly difficult to turn our attention away from ASUS’ Dual Panel touchscreen PC, we couldn’t help but notice its latest Lamborghini-inspired machine. The newly announced VX5 was on display here at CeBIT, sporting a 1TB SSD, leather panel rests, that iconic Lamborghini logo and a few chrome accents to boot. Oh, and take our word for it — that leather was supple. Real supple.

We’re just now wrapping our heads around that 1TB SSD that pureSilicon launched in January, and already ASUS is looking to place us back in a state of disbelief with its newfangled Lamborghini VX5 laptop. Said machine, which is slated to debut tomorrow alongside a litany of other products here in Hannover, will sport a 1TB SSD, a Core 2 Quad CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 16-inch “Full HD” display. You’ll also find a GeForce GT 130M graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, an illuminated “chiclet” style keyboard and a Blu-ray optical drive to boot. Needless to say, this one’s aimed at those not fazed by stratospheric price tags, and we’re saying that well before the MSRP has been made public. Call it a hunch… or just superb deductive reasoning.
