It sure took awhile but you’re looking at one of, if not the first external USB trackpads with multi-touch gesture support. The $50 (¥4,980) SmartTrack Neo model FTP500UB rocks USB 1.1 and XP / Vista drivers to bring your legacy laptop up to fighting specs with fancy modern rigs. A two-handed mouse the size of a brick — really, how can you resist?

We haven’t heard much from Stone since it fulfilled its destiny and bought Rock Computers last year, but it looks like the company is now finally having a go at a netbook of its own, and blending right in with the masses with its just-announced Neo 101 model. As you can no doubt guess, this one packs a standard issue 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display and an unspecified Atom processor, along with built-in WiFi and optional 3G, a pair of USB ports and, somewhat notably, an ExpressCard slot for a bit of expansion. You’ll also get a slightly better than usual three-year warranty, which apparently doesn’t add much of a premium to the netbook’s £275 price tag (or about $400). Look for this one to be available in the UK starting May 1st.

I really like the multi-touch trackpad on my Macbook, in fact it’s almost enough to make me forget the horrendous glare I occasionally have to deal with on the display. And thanks to Filco, I can now add the same functionality to my desktop PC with their SmartTrack Neo trackpad. It allows you to perform those clever multi-touch tricks like pinch zooming and double-fingered scrolling, all for just $50.

The first machine to rely on AMD’s Neo MV-40 processor has officially been spotted outside of a show floor, though you’ll have to jet to Bangkok if you’re looking to touch one yourself. The atypically well-specced 12.1-inch Pavilion dv2 has been spotted over in Thailand for around $720, and while it doesn’t look drastically (or at all, really) different than what we saw at CES this year, it’s good to see this bugger finally creeping into homes. Check the read link for a few more angles and impressions, and feel free to get your hopes up for a US release in the not-too-distant future.

Intel may be looking at bringing its Atom processor to some non-netbook laptops, but it looks like it’s also planning to venture into some slightly more profitable territory, with CNET reporting that the company is on track to release a new Core-architecture processor for ultra-thin laptops later this year. That processor would apparently be priced well above the low-cost Atom, but below the likes of the Core 2 Duo “S” processor used in current ultra-thin laptops like the MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy 133. Unfortunately, Intel doesn’t seem to be quite ready to get much more specific than that, with it only saying that the processor could be used in laptops that are less than one inch thick, and that the processor itself would measure just 22 x 22-millimeters. As CNET points out, that pretty much places the processor squarely in competition with AMD’s new Athlon Neo, which is also going after that same, presumably more profitable middle ground.
Sure, Panasonic’s 0.33-inch thin Neo PDP might have just redefined our definition of thin, but the new Samsung HDTV are quite the lookers. The form factor, like the company’s touted UI initiative, is fairly unified in appearance across all models. Frankly, we had a pretty hard time telling them apart, and all we could really think about is how awesome they’d look in our living rooms. Hard to tell from the gallery below, but trust us, the picture quality is very crisp and clean. Now if we could only get a glimpse of Internet@TV in action.

Panasonic ended its press conference today with a bang as it debuted the 0.33-inch thick Neo PDP Eco plasma display. We’re still scrambling to find out how close this thing is to production, but good heavens, it’s sexy. Have a look below.

The handset itself is hardly anything new, and we had a pretty good indication that Android was heading its way, but there’s still nothing like a few good ‘ol fashioned blurrycam shots to make a plan really come together. From the looks of it, the handset doesn’t appear to have gone under any major changes for its new Google-fied incarnation, with it still packing the same 2.8-inch VGA display, 400MHz Samsung 2442 processor, GSM and GPRS connectivity as before, plus the usual built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, and AGPS, among other standard fare. Still not word on a price or release date, unfortunately, but according to the folks at iMAndroid, that is “just around the corner.” In the meantime, you’ll have to make do with the few more equally blurry pics available at the link below.
