T-Mobile MyTouch 3G now official, costs $199.99

We knew that the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G was going to be announced this month and, well, the smartphone is now finally official.

Sadly, T-Mobile USA will only sell its second Android handset starting early August. However, the carrier’s current customers will be able to pre-order it as of July 8 and thus receive it sometime later that month. The smartphone’s price is of $199.99 with a contract agreement for two years.

As expected, the MyTouch 3G will be offered in three color versions: white, black and merlot.

T-Mobile MyTouch 3G official

Unlike its predecessor (T-Mobile G1), MyTouch 3G doesn’t have a hardware keyboard, so it’s slightly thinner.

The new smartphone obviously features stuff like Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa access and so on. It is highly customizable (including apps like Sherpa) and it comes with a 4GB card in the box.

Other than that, the specs of MyTouch 3G are similar to the ones of HTC Magic: 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels, GPS, Wi-Fi and a 3.2MP camera with autofocus and video recording.

The official website of T-Mobile’s MyTouch 3G can be accessed here.

T-Mobile Germany website indicates May launch for Cupcake

It’s not exactly a huge surprise considering that the Cupcake-powered HTC Magic is confirmed to be coming out May 5th, but T-Mobile Germany’s website now looks to have also confirmed that the Cupcake update itself will also be rolling out to G1 users sometime the same month — in Germany, at least. That’ll of course bring with it the much-desired on-screen keyboard, along with video recording, stereo Bluetooth support, and some new integration with Picasa and YouTube, among other fixes and additions. As you can see above, the update will “skillfully” install itself on your G1 as soon as it’s available, so you needn’t do anything except go on about your daily business in the meantime, or check the interwebs furiously for a means of jumping the cue.

IPEVO’s Kaleido R7 wireless digital photo frame

IPEVO's Kaleido R7 wireless digital photo frame
Yeah, we know, we’re kinda tired of the whole digital photo frame thing too. Usually their styling is a little too classical, too modern, or just too cheap. So, while perusing the halls at the Digital Experience on the eve of CES, we were happy to see something with a fresh, clean design that also offers plenty of functionality: IPEVO’s upcoming Kaleido R7. It’s a 7-inch, 800 x 480 TFT LCD with 512MB of memory, plus an SD card slot if you’re into physically moving your pictures around. The idea, though, is to connect wirelessly, and the frame seems able to sync with any tool you like, whether it’s Flickr, Picasa, iPhoto, or just a vanilla RSS feed on a PC or Mac. You can even send pics straight from your iPhone. The frame also can be rotated vertically or horizontally and sports a simple array of controls for navigation. It’s a little bulky, and a little funky, but we like it, and though its $199 asking price is a bit steep if you have tons of photos in tons of places and are looking for a solid way to get them all displayed, this could be a good option when it drops in March.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3 launches: world’s first WiFi camera with web browser

No clue why Sony didn’t unleash this pretty boy with its litany of items yesterday, but maybe it just saw fit to give it some special attention. Thanks to the all-admitting FCC, we already had a good idea that this was coming, but now that it’s finally here, we’re still pretty jazzed. Set to rival Panny’s Lumix DMC-TZ50, the DLNA-certified Cyber-shot DSC-G3 is the planet’s first WiFi camera with a built-in web browser, enabling users to upload images and video directly to popular sharing sites wherever a WiFi connection is available. Of note, the camera comes with complimentary access to Sony’s Easy Upload Home Page via AT&T WiFi, which provides easy entrance into Shutterfly, Picasa, YouTube, Photobucket and Dailymotion. Other specs include a 10 megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom and Face Detection. It’s yours to grab right now for around $500.
