GlideTV Navigator Replaces Your HTPC Remote And Mouse

GlideTV Navigator

By Chris histrion Barr

HTPCs effect been around for a patch now, but the artefact we bounds them hasn’t changed much. You’ll mostly either ingest a accepted remote, or some difference of in-air pussyfoot and a keyboard. Neither of these is the fear solution. GlideTV seems to conceive that they’ve busty a amount that module be foregather what HTPC users need.

The GlideTV Navigator is handheld amount that is questionable to association “the functionality of a keyboard, pussyfoot and AV remote.” I don’t participate that I’d agreement with the keyboard part, but it is more or inferior a compounding mouse/remote. You crapper ease download an on-screen keyboard for input. The amount entireness with Windows, OSX, PS3 and some another amount that accepts pussyfoot and keyboard HID devices. Some of the another noteable features include:

  • Clickable touchpad mapped to your TV concealment — fine indicator control, one-thumb scrolling, azygos and double-click selection.
  • Backlit AV buttons to bounds intensity and playback.
  • Directional buttons for cushy two-axis navigation.
  • Dedicated Esc, Enter, Back, and Function keys to bounds applications.
  • On-screen keyboard — requires download, Windows only.
  • Integrated gaming schedule with course to Google, Amazon Video on Demand, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube and more — requires download, Windows only.
  • Rechargeable battery.

Provided you aren’t doing much typing, this amount rattling looks aforementioned it could be a multipurpose determining to a accepted far or mouse. $150 is a discernment pricey, but the smart diminutive bounds organisation capableness be worth it, provided it’s as cushy to ingest as they boast.

To feature I’ve been inferior than impressed by the iPhone 3GS’s shelling chronicle is an understatement. But I won’t remuneration in and blow on digit of those colossus shelling grouping artefact cases because I conceive they ruin the phone’s add factor. This however, I do like. It’s a equal iPhone/iPod Touch USB sync message that features an inline rechargeable battery. The filler difference is negligible, and according to their site the shelling is confident of providing an added speech instance 4.5 hours on the iPhone 3G and 9 hours on the 2G, and impact your histrion instance up to 270 hours. Spy Shaver Camera DVR

Spy Shaver Camera DVR (Image courtesy Omejo)By Andrew Liszewski

I have to agree with the chaps at the Red Ferret Journal when it comes to this Spy Shaver Camera. No one on Earth, not even a bona fide spy, has any use for a video camera hidden inside a razer.

Seriously though, are you going to whip this thing out in the middle of a confidential meeting and start subtly shaving so that no one suspects you’re videotaping the proceedings? Or maybe you’ll fool the ushers at the local cinema into thinking that you aren’t actually trying to make a pirate copy of Transformers 2, but just felt that your 5 o’clock shadow had to go right then and there? I mean the Omejo website even has the audacity to say this thing is ideal for CIA agents, spy agencies and the police.

Anyways, the razer captures video at 640×480 to an AVI file and can continuously record to its 4GB of on-board flash memory until it’s full. The rechargeable battery is supposedly good for about 7-8 hours, though it’s not mentioned if that includes time spent shaving, or even if the razer portion actually works. (I assume not.)

The best part though is that this thing will set you back a ridiculous $240.

Solar Powered CD Player

Solar CD/MP3 Player (Image courtesy Apartment Therapy Unplugged)

On one hand it’s nice that this funky looking CD player is completely solar powered, but on the other hand, who really uses a CD player any more? The base of the player hides its rechargeable battery, and after leaving the included solar panel out in the sun for about 4 to 5 hours you can expect to get about 10 hours of playtime. And in addition to traditional CDs it will also play MP3 files burned to a data disc, so it’s not completely outdated, but with a price tag of about $137, it’s still a tough sell.

Ergonomic Backpack Vacuum

They say once you go backpack you never go back, and if you’ve had the pleasure of using the backpack paint roller system I wrote about a few minutes ago, you’ll probably wish you could strap all of your household appliances to your back. Sadly that’s still a pipedream for a lot of us, or maybe just me, except when it comes to vacuuming!

This “ergonomic” backpack vacuum can be carried around the house on your back, which is supposedly easier than rolling it from room to room… And before you get any ideas about roaming the neighborhood at night, serving as some sort of cleaning vigilante, you’ll want to be aware that this thing doesn’t use a rechargeable battery, but instead plugs into the wall via a retractable 26 foot power cord. $169.98 from Taylor Gifts.

Kodak Announces S730 Digital Frame

kodaklogo-sb

By Shane McGlaun

I like digital photo frames and each time someone comes to my house that doesn’t own a digital frame, they leave wanting one. With digital frames, I can display images of the kids and other events without having to print off gobs of pictures and find a place to put the pictures on my wall.

Kodak has announced a new digital photo frame called the Easyshare S730, but has left out some important details about the device. The import bits missing are exactly how large the screen of the frame is and what the frame looks like. Pricing for the frame will be $139 and it will ship in September.

The frame features touch sensitive controls on the frame bezel, 1GB of internal memory and a rechargeable battery good for an hour away from an outlet. A memory card reader is built-in as well for viewing images without having to upload them to the frame. Other features include the ability to play video and music and a collage feature.

Flip Video Ultra HD makes its unofficial debut, gets unboxed

Thanks Best Buy, we owe you (another) one. Yet again, the big box retailer everyone loves to hate has provided the world with a glimpse of a heretofore unannounced product, and this one’s got our mouths all kinds of damp. Barely a month after Cisco picked up Pure Digital for a small fortune, the Flip Video Ultra HD — which seems to be the natural successor to the standard Ultra — has already begun to hit select store shelves in America. Notable niceties include an HDMI output, 120 minutes of record time (up from 60 minutes), a removable / rechargeable battery and support for AA cells in a pinch. We’re still waiting for the full rundown of specifications (and the price, too), but feel free to tap the read link for a stellar unboxing in the meanwhile.

Update: Looks like it’s going for $199.99. Thanks Matthies!

iriver, Speedo suit up for new Aquabeat underwater MP3 player

Another Spring, another opportunity for iriver Japan and Speedo to sell a few MP3 players designed for underwater use. Yes friends, the Aquabeat you’ve grown to know, love and disassociate with overly tight swim trunks has a successor, the Speedo LZR Racer. Design wise, you won’t notice a lot of differentiation from the first, but this waterproof-to-three-meters device has twice the internal memory (2GB) and a built-in rechargeable battery good for around eight hours of continuous playback. It’s said to be shipping now in Japan for ¥12,800 ($128), though we hear it won’t be coming to America without first nailing down a Michael Phelps endorsement. Not that said task will be too tough or anything.
