I crapper see the aim behindhand a mechanism canid since the actual abstract does effect a artefact to consent assail everywhere, nutrient on anything and everything and order binary trips correct to counterbalance your lawn in ‘waste’, but a mechanism plant? Now that’s foregather stark lazy… but my category of lazy! The Sega Pekoppa doesn’t domain watering or nutrient-rich grime or add sunlight, foregather a ordered of 3xAA batteries to primed it alive. And different the actual abstract that foregather sits there and still dies, the Pekoppa module move to your vocalise and actually advise around thanks to a ordered of futuristic hooligan wires. (Remember when those were the incoming enthusiastic thing?)

Here’s a recording of a striking of grouping effort likewise agog at what is essentially a agitated stick, and if you’d aforementioned to be digit of them you crapper impart your possess from ThinkGeek for foregather $18.

Sega’s Fireworks Projector

Sega Fireworks Projector (Images courtesy Sega & Newlaunches)
By Andrew Liszewski

So apparently Sega’s got a new projector coming out sometime in August, but according to their website they’re unfortunately they’re not releasing a heck of a lot of information about it until July 25. We do know that it will project a pre-programmed fireworks show on the ceiling or walls of your home, and that you’ll be able to design your own show from a library of 55 different virtual pyrotechnic displays. It will be powered by 3xAAA batteries so the projector is most definitely portable, and it will retail for about $160.

Modder brings Virtual On’s dual sticks to the Xbox 360 on the cheap

Most fighting games are pretty badass, but fighting games that feature giant robots? Overwhelmingly badass. Such was Virtual On, one of Sega’s most beloved (and seemingly most quickly forgotten) franchises, where two anime-themed (and frequently Saturn-wearing) virtualroids duked it out in full 3-D and blew our minds with great graphics and a humbling dual-stick control scheme (push both forward to run ahead, apart to jump, together to crouch, etc.). With the game making its triumphant return to action on the Xbox 360, a Japanese gamer has created the above monstrosity by wedging a couple of candy packages onto the controller’s analog sticks, then wiring up weapons buttons. With a little paint they’d almost pass for the arcade’s controller, but we’re not entirely sure that thin plastic would hold up to repeated deploys of Grys-vok’s ICBM attack.

House Of The Dead: Overkill Gets Sworn Into The Guinness Book Of World Records

headstrongpide

By Chris Scott Barr

I’m pretty sure that it’s every game designer’s dream to work on a title that smashes records. There’s nothing quite like knowing you helped make something that’s in the record books. Well everyone that had a hand in House of the Dead: Overkill can pat themselves on the back. The game has been officially inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records.

So what feat was so incredible that Guinness thought it was worth immortalizing the game in their sacred book? Apparently the game drops the F-bomb a whopping 189 times, which is more than any other game out there. Yes, that might sound like a lot of swearing, but that’s really nothing when you compare it to the 260 times it’s said in The Big Lebowski, or the 398 times it’s uttered in Casino. If you’re wanting a nice breakdown, the F-bomb is dropped a little over once per minute and accounts for roughly 3% of the entire dialog. Now that’s something to be proud of.

Job loss roundup: like other roundups, only less fun

Remember yesterday… when everything was awesome and hopeful? Well, with this morning’s coffee came the cold hard truth once more: the economy is seriously stinking up the joint, and it only seems to be getting worse. Logitech’s announced their third-quarter earnings (down 70 percent) and simultaneously said it’s going to shrug off 600 of its employees, while the folks over at Intel have said they’re shutting down a manufacturing facility in the Philippines which houses 1,800 employees. Sony’s vaguely announced a “restructuring” which is bound to result in misery and job loss, while Sega confirmed that “about 30″ people have been vaporized from the pay sheet. So… everything’s cool with this blogging job, right guys? Guys!?

This Week On BotJunkie

keep_tofu

By Evan Ackerman

We’ve had a HUGE week this week over on BotJunkie. We kicked things off at CES, getting a first look at the new iRobot Looj 2. While chatting with iRobot, we asked them about how their ConnectR beta testing was going, and were the first to break the news that the iRobot ConnectR robot has been canceled. Meanwhile, we were introduced to iRobot’s new YouTube channel, where they answer all kinds of questions about their robots including one from us: why is Roomba round? As we explored the show floor, we were SO EXCITED to run into Keepon, the little yellow BeatBot, and got some video of his new Wiimote-controlled dancing skills. The cuteness didn’t end there, either, as we got some quality grope time with Paro the robotic therapy seal pup. Anybots was also at CES, demoing their new QA telepresence robot.

We tried not to fall behind the non-CES news either, following up on the latest version of Sega’s “Dream Cat Venus.” Looks like MIT has begun selling a version of their highly expressive Nexi robot, and speaking of MIT, the Media Lab has created TOFU, a sort of squashy stretchy Keepon gone wild. We finished out the week with a heartbreaking story about a homesick Irish UAV lost in Africa, some CGI video of a duel between a robot Mac and PC, a video list of the top 10 combat robots, and a freaky demonic push-up robot.

Japanese ‘Yakuza 3′ PlayStation 3 is sexy, in short supply

To commemorate the release of Yakuza 3 in Japan, Sony and Sega are bundling the game with a special edition ceramic white 80GB PlayStation 3, complete with a very detailed dragon decal emblazoned on top. If that wasn’t enough, the pack is being offered for ¥45,980 ($495), which according to Siliconera saves you ¥2,000 ($21.50) than when buying the game and console separate. You can expect that price tag to skyrocket on eBay, though, as only 10,000 of these are being made. Sure, it’s no price drop, but man is it gorgeous.
