We already knew that LG is getting ready to unveil a 12MP camera phone this year, but we thought we’ll only see it sometime towards the year’s end.

Well, no. The phone was already showcased by LG during the Korea Products Exhibition, in Warsaw, Poland.

The new handset is called LG GC990 Louvre, but its final name may be different. That is, if LG decides to commercialize it – because it looks like the phone is only a concept for now.

Anyway, let’s see what the LG GC990 Louvre has to offer.

Its 12.1MP camera obviously features autofocus, plus:

• Schneider Kreuznach lens
• ISO up to 3200
• Xenon flash
• Intellizoom and Touch Focus
• HD (1280 x 720 pixels) video recording at 30fps

Camera aside, the specs of LG GC990 include:

• 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 16 million colors and unknown resolution
• S-Class Touch UI
• Accelerometer
• Wi-Fi with DLNA
• GPS and A-GPS
• Bluetooth

As I said, it’s not clear yet when and if the LG GC990 Louvre will be launched.

A few weeks ago, when Samsung unveiled the new Pixon12 M8910 camera phone, it didn’t announce the handset’s price.

Now we’re hearing that, in Spain, the Samsung Pixon 12 will retail for €639 ($897) – probably slightly more than you’d want to pay for an unlocked phone, even if it’s the first in the world to have a 12MP camera.

Most probably, the price of the unlocked Pixon 12 will be similar in other European markets.

Customers in Spain should be able to buy the Samsung Pixon 12 starting late August. In September, the phone will be offered through at least one carrier, so it will cost less when bought with a contract agreement.

Apart from the 12MP camera with autofocus, Xenon flash and 720 x 480 pixels video recording, the Pixon 12 also features HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, a 3.1 inch AMOLED WVGA touchscreen display, GPS, Wi-Fi and 150MB of internal memory.

HTC Magic has become India’s first Android phone, as HTC and Bharti Airtel announced its upcoming availability in the world’s second largest mobile market.

The Indian Magic comes in an interesting red/black color version.

Other than that, its features are similar to the ones of the original Magic, including: Android 1.5 OS, 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, G-sensor, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, web browser, email and a 3.2 autofocus camera with video recording.

Customers will be able to find the HTC Magic at Airtel Relationship Centres and authorised HTC resellers in 17 important Indian towns.

The retail price of HTC Magic is of 29,900 ($616). Airtel’s subscribers who buy the smartphone will be provided with 100MB/month of free data download, for 6 months.

HTC Magic was recently announced in the US too, branded as T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, and it will be introduced soon in many other markets around the world. So it’s no wonder that HTC plans to sell the smartphone in 1 million units by the end of the summer.

It’s nice to see that advances in technology have paved the way for a self-contained pair of video recording sunglasses, but the real thanks has to go to Oakley who’s convinced the world that these chunky designs are fashionable. Still, I don’t think anyone would figure out this particular pair of sunnies is capable of recording 640×480 VGA quality video to its 8GB of internal memory just by looking at them. That memory is also expandable thanks to a microSD card located on one side of the glasses, while recharging is facilitated via a discrete mini USB port. $192 from Geek Stuff 4 U.

It’s not the first time that we see Verizon’s customized HTC Snap, namely the HTC Ozone, but now we’ve got its complete list of specs and features.

As previously said, HTC Ozone is a global handset, just like the recently-leaked Pantech Escapade. Of course, HTC’s device is a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone, so it’s not exactly in the same league as the Escapade.

The Ozone comes with dual-band 1xRTT/EV-DO Rev. A, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity and a SIM card with Global Support Kit.

Wi-Fi and GPS are also in there, and it looks like Verizon won’t lock the GPS usage to VZ Navigator.

The rest of the specs include:

• 2.4 inch QVGA non-touchscreen display
• Full QWERTY keyboard
• Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
• 2MP autofocus camera with video recording
• Voice command
• Mobile Broadband Connect capable

Reportedly, Verizon will launch the HTC Ozone either on June 29, or on July 13. It’s said that the smartphone’s price is of only $49.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $70 mail-in rebate.

We all know the new functionality that comes with the new iPhone 3G-S: faster processor, more storage capacity, compass, video recording, and dog whistle. Wait, what?

Reports all over the web have come out this weekend that the iPhone 3G-S is emitting a strange buzzing sound immediately after system sounds (unlock, SMS notifications, etc) at around the 15 KHz frequency.

This buzzing is at such a high frequency that not everyone notices; but for those who do, it’s annoying. I’m pretty sure most dogs aren’t happy about it either. What has been reported, however, is that it doesn’t happen when the phone is in vibrate mode.

BGR, in reporting the issue, is almost certain that it is software related. This ultimately means that it can be fixed with the next OS update. Perhaps 3.0.1? Or 3.1? Only time will tell, but if enough people are experiencing this, it is in Apple’s best interest to get it fixed pronto.

Sure, it’s got that funky flip-out display, in-camera panorama stitching, HD video recording and a host of other fancy features for its $500 pricepoint, but does Sony’s new Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 give DSLRs a run for their money? Digital Photography Review doesn’t seem to think so. The camera has a lot in common with Canon’s similarly-positioned SX1 IS, and even bests it in some departments with that 10 fps continuos shooting mode, but the actual image quality just isn’t in the same ballpark as a barely more expensive DSLR, and DP Review figures that if you don’t need the 20x zoom or other more gimmicky features, most folks would probably be better served by saving their pennies for the real deal.

It’s not exactly a huge surprise considering that the Cupcake-powered HTC Magic is confirmed to be coming out May 5th, but T-Mobile Germany’s website now looks to have also confirmed that the Cupcake update itself will also be rolling out to G1 users sometime the same month — in Germany, at least. That’ll of course bring with it the much-desired on-screen keyboard, along with video recording, stereo Bluetooth support, and some new integration with Picasa and YouTube, among other fixes and additions. As you can see above, the update will “skillfully” install itself on your G1 as soon as it’s available, so you needn’t do anything except go on about your daily business in the meantime, or check the interwebs furiously for a means of jumping the cue.
