Man, RIM’s just full of leaks when it comes to the purported next CDMA BlackBerry, and as long as they’re not memory leaks, we don’t think we’ll be complaining. CrackBerry has somehow managed to secure yet another pre-release device, and this time it’s none other than the CDMA Bold / Curve 8900 / Storm hybrid. Like we saw with the latest Mr. Blurrycam video review (and all those other leaked pics) the keyboard sure looks to be a real winner and to quote CB, it’s “the optimal solution.” The form factor is also described as “awesome” and its narrower size made it even nicer to hold than the Bold. Unfortunately, this particular device was running — or trying to run — OS 4.7.1.10, which is basically a dummy phone equivalent at this point, while .17 is purportedly available somewhere in the Great White North. We’ve heard that the hardware has indeed been finalized, and that RIM is mass producing these like crazy — and if they can get the software to match what we’ve seen of the hardware, it looks like they’re going to have another winner on their hands.

HP’s Mini 1000 Mi has been up for order since CES, but for those still waiting (and waiting) for a proper overview of the system before buying in can finally say that their patience has paid off. The netbook lovin’ crew over at jkOnTheRun has taken the time to showcase the aforementioned machine on video, going over the basics, the not-so-basics and the pros / cons of ownership. We’re going to warn you up front, though — the clip is darn near 20 minutes long, so you’ll certainly want to snag some cookies and milk before diving into the read link. That said, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better look at the Mi software without actually removing your keister from your chair, so it’s probably worth your while.

The Meizu M8 has been caught on camera plenty of times before, but we can’t recall seeing an English-language version until now. One tester at MP4 Nation has managed to get some hands-on time with the unabashed iPhone doppelganger, and calls the audio and video playback quality a disappointment, especially given the powerful Samsung ARM CPU inside. As he eloquently puts it, “cheap MP4 players can do a better job.” Ouch. Video resizing also seems to be poorly implemented when switching to full screen, he shows, cutting off the edges when it doesn’t match the 3:2 aspect ratio. It’s not all bad, though, as the photo viewer and phone book has been aptly copied from Apple’s flagship mobile, including multi-touch zoom, and the Windows CE-masking GUI is fluid. After it went on sale in Europe yesterday, we figured that it could only be a matter of minutes before someone got their hands on one of HP’s Compaq Mini 700s. Netbook News has gotten the job done and they’ve kindly filmed the proceedings. In case you’ve forgotten, the £399 ($594) netbook is the same as the Mini 1000 sold Stateside, boasting 1.6GHz Atom CPU and a 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 panel. You’ve heard the rumours and the tales of hacked firmware, and you’ve seen the glamor shots — and now that the Nikon D3x has hit the streets, we’ve got some significant previewage for you to check out. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive — as you would expect from a 24.5-megapixel, $8,000 camera. Trusted Reviews was impressed not only by the quality of the pictures and the bright, clear viewfinder, but by the overall build of the camera as well, stating that it felt “extremely well-balanced in the hand even with heavy lenses. And … the D3x’s controls were surprisingly easy to operate and use, with everything laid out very intuitively.” CNET pointed out that the camera “shares similar dimensions with its sibling, the D3, so this means accessories produced for the latter can be used on the new camera.” One omission that the review pointed out was the Nikon’s inability to capture 1080p full HD video, making Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II your only option if that’s what you’re after.
