There is a conceive ground so some movies and recording games intend zombies these days. It’s because someone discover there is disagreeable to monish and educate us for the inevitable. The decedent apocalypse. You participate it, I participate it, everyone knows it. That’s ground we effect to be prepared, foregather aforementioned the mortal who created this awing Emergency Zombie Defense Station.

The piece is definitely an direct instrument for close-range defense, though the harm is a discernment shorter than I’d tending to have. I’d kinda gaming a katana or a knife at least. I aforementioned that they attain ingest of the intercommunicate as something of a force shield. The best conception has to be the professional-looking warning sign. Classic. It seems that this DIY beam has been around for a diminutive while, but it’s definitely inspired me to attain one.

Bed Bunker Is Perfect For Post-Apocalyptic Planning

bedbunker

By Chris Scott Barr

Remember that little chat we had yesterday about robots and zombies taking over the world? Well I’m still convinced that it will happen one day (sooner, rather than later) and take my preparations for the uprising very seriously. One thing that is an absolute must-have in every household is a large safe for storing gratuitous amounts of armaments. Sure, you could go with one of those little stand-up lockers, but those can only hold so much, and are a little to obvious. You need to go with something a little bigger, while still well-hidden. You need the Bed Bunker.

This big-ass safe is perfect for holding guns, ammo, explosives and even a sword or two (those never run out of ammo). It’s fireproof, which means that if there are any documents that you think might still have value after the robot/zombie uprising has settled, you can keep them safe as well. All you need to do is pick the bed safe that fits your size needs and shell out between $2700 and $5200. Oh, and you’ll need to stock up on things to fill it with.

The Big Toy Hut Sells Custom Minifigs That LEGO Never Will

Custom LEGO Minifigs (Images courtesy The Big Toy Hut)
By Andrew Liszewski

Looking for a way to spice up daily life in your meticulously constructed LEGO town? How about introducing a zombie infestation? Or why not let the Joker and Two-Face from The Dark Knight run amok for a couple of days? That should keep the local fire department, police station and The Watchmen’s Rorschach busy for a while right?

Over at The Big Toy Hut they’ve got a pretty large collection of LEGO minifigs you can buy to populate your town, but it’s the hand-customized figures that really stand out. The attention to detail is perfect, and the custom figures could easily pass as real LEGO minifigs which is important since I’m pretty sure you’re never going to find an official Watchmen LEGO collection at your local Toys”R”Us.

And like anything that’s custom and awesome these figures aren’t cheap at $11.99 a piece, but they’re well worth it if you’re a serious LEGO collector.

ASUS Eee Top now available for pre-order at Amazon

Been looking for an inexpensive all-in-one to unify your life, something that your zombie slave Fido could use in the kitchen to look up recipes yet would also look equally good perched on a minimalist desk? ASUS’s first Eee Top could fit the bill, and it looks to be very close to US availability with the appearance of a pre-order page on Amazon.com. The 15.6-inch touchscreen model has the standard 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of memory, and XP installed on a 160GB drive. Right now it’s available in either black or white, and whether you’re choosing the presence or absence of all colors you’ll be asked to pay $599.99 — naturally with free shipping available if you’re not in too much of a hurry.

Timex Expedition WS4 hands-on

The folks at Timex were kind enough to send us a pre-production version of their Expedition WS4 watch, and we can tell you right now — some serious adventuring is about to begin. We haven’t had a chance to do all the rock climbing, mountain biking, and sumo wrestling we plan on using this watch for, but we already feel stronger, smarter, more aware of the outside temperature, and way better looking. After we take on a crew of zombie Nazis, ride in a barrel over Niagara Falls, and spend 24 hours encased in ice, we’ll let you know how it holds up. Until then, enjoy the pics.

NASA investigates problems with Mars Spirit rover

They’ve manged to make it to the five-year mark despite a few considerable bumps in the road, but it looks like one of the Mars rovers has once again hit a snag, and NASA is now furiously trying to sort out the problem. Apparently, the issue first arose earlier this week when Spirit reported that it had received its driving commands but didn’t move. Things were then further complicated later in the day when Spirit failed to record its daily activities, and it seems to have been all downhill since, with the rover unable to even locate the sun in order to reorient itself. What’s more, while they’re still trying to run some diagnostics to pinpoint the problem, NASA engineers say that the troubles could possibly be caused by cosmic rays hitting the rover, which we all know can only lead to one thing…. zombie rovers.

Custom ‘Resident Evil 5′ Xbox 360 bundle on the way?

According to “the Mole” — a favorite Ars Technica source for all things game related — has some curiosity-piquing info on the possibility of a Resident Evil 5-themed Xbox 360 headed to market. So says the site’s Deep Throat, not only will a demo version of the game come to US Xboxen first (a move that must seriously unnerve Sony), but following the sneak-peak will be an RE5 package hardcore fans will die for. According to Ars, we’ll see a custom red Xbox (with matching controller), a copy of Resident Evil 5, a special NXE RE5 theme, and a bonus Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD download. Of course, this is pure rumor right now, but if this package comes to fruition, we can bet on at least a few zombie-loving members of the Engadget staff getting in line when it hits shelves. Make it happen, people.

ASUS Eee Top touchscreen PC zombie hands-on

It looks like ASUS is about to carve out another unexpected niche for itself with its Eee Top all-in-one PC. The 15.6-inch touchscreen coupled with ASUS’ touch-friendly user interface (riding an XP / Atom N270 underpinning) and industrial design definitely looked and felt like a winner. Sure, the UI could use some more polish, and the occasional menu pull-out was positioned too close to the bezel’s edge for easy touching. But we could easily see an Eee Top making its way into our lair as a secondary PC when it begins shipping Stateside in “a few weeks” — especially for a $599 MSRP.

Shuttle’s X50 all-in-one desktop pulls up alongside the Eee Top

While the Eee Top may get a lot of zombie-hand loving, it’s not the only game in town when it comes to cheapo all-in-one PCs. Shuttle announced its X50 desktop at CES as well, a system with more than just a few similarities to the competition, namely its CPU, base RAM, display size and resolution, chipset, GPU, and OS. In case you don’t know those by heart: 1.6GHz Intel Atom 330, 1GB of RAM, 15.6-inch,1366 x 768 resistive touchscreen display, 945GC mainboard, GMA 950 graphics, and Windows XP. The real difference is the hard drive — the Eee Top sports a 160GB, the X50 just 80GB — and the price point, with the Shuttle clocking in at $499 ($100 cheaper). Our take? We’re starting to see the emergence of what amounts to the netbook desktop — a one piece, low power system meant for the kids’ room, the kitchen, or grandma’s rest home suite. The Shuttle wins in the looks department, but don’t make any fast decisions — come its March launch, you’ll be seeing plenty of these.
